Meghan Spiro
Oil Painter & Artist
Meghan Spiro is a survivor, healer, oil painter and photographer. Graduating with a Bachelors in Photography and Motion Picture Sciences from the Brooks Institute of Photography, Meghan’s primary medium is photography and digital art, however in the last 4 years, Meghan has become a self-taught oil painter, combining her photographic and digital skills to create her mock-ups as references for her surreal paintings. While primarily focusing her art as a space for healing, Meghan’s tender yet raw artwork is known for fearlessly exploring intense female struggles like domestic violence, sexual assault, miscarriage, as well as radical methods of healing, spiritual journeys of wisdom, her roots in Cherokee ancestry, the sacred feminine, plant & animal medicine, and connection to Mother Earth. Also a poet, she sometimes blends her poetry with her artwork. Although surreal, she draws much of her creativity from her own life and practices.
Meghan has shown her work in New York and Los Angeles and currently is in an exhibition “Back to School” co-curated by Ethan Cohen Gallery and Ron English. She currently lives in the beautiful Hudson Valley mountain town of Beacon, NY.
