The Brief
Since opening in 2012, The Roundhouse has grown into not only a restaurant, but an event venue, as well as a boutique hotel. Eventually, they realized that each of these businesses has their own market and focus. When The Roundhouse reached out to me, I was honored to have the opportunity to collaborate on building their brand. The focus was clean, minimalist, with the food and venue at the forefront.
So with that in mind, we set out to design a separate website RHBeacon.com featuring the restaurant, with some of the best food and signature views of Beacon, NY.
What I Did
The Roundhouse and I first kick started the project with a design and discovery phase, developing mood boards to hone in on the artistic direction of the brand, both in design and photography. Then I developed wireframes for the overall layout, being mindful of the various platforms for which the website will be viewed. (Most restaurant websites are viewed on mobile devices these days.) While finalizing the designs, we both edited their current photo library and developed a list of outstanding photographs needed to showcase the restaurant. In the production phase, the designs came to life in the web development using WordPress, while the food photography shoot featured some of the best dish Beacon, NY has to offer.
Since the original launch of the website back in the Spring of 2017, I’ve continued to photograph The Roundhouse’s food and cocktails for ongoing promotion and updates. It’s such a pleasure to collaborate with this sophisticated establishment and continually photography their creative culinary dishes.
