Photography + Styling for Cover Story and Churchtown Dairy Assignment

The Brief

Right before Thanksgiving, Hudson Valley Magazine reached out to me to photograph not only an assignment at Churchtown Dairy, a sustainable raw dairy farm in Hudson, but also photograph and style a cheese board for the cheese issue’s cover. Although only a few images where featured in the issue, here are additional shots from the assignments.

What I Did

On a gray afternoon the day before Thanksgiving, I packed the car with my daughter in tow and headed up to Churchtown Dairy Farm in Hudson, NY. The first place we photographed were the cows resting inside the large round barn. For a few minutes, the sun came out just in time for some exteriors, before a passing cold shower. I captured the cheese process, the farm kitchen, and all of the farmer portraits, then it was time to meet back in the barn to capture the cows being milked. What I found so beautiful about these cows is that they still had their horns, and that the public is welcomed to visit and pet them. Happy cows make for a happy raw dairy farm.
